Think Peanut Island is just a beach? Think again. Beneath the water and behind the palms are some of Palm Beach County’s coolest natural and historical features. Here’s what to discover when you’re ready to explore.
🤿 Snorkel the Lagoon
Home to one of the best free snorkeling spots in Florida, the southeast lagoon offers shallow, clear water and marine life galore — from reef fish to rays.
What to know:
Best during high tide
Bring your own snorkel gear — no rentals
Avoid ferry traffic zones and private docks
🏛️ See the JFK Bunker (From Outside)
Once a Cold War secret, this presidential fallout shelter was built in 10 days for JFK in 1961. It’s currently closed for restoration, but still visible from the walking trail.
Photo tip: Look for the west side of the island. A great stop for history lovers.
