Peanut Island is surrounded by clear, inviting water — perfect for paddling, snorkeling, and boating. But before you dive in, make sure you know the safety rules that apply both above and below the surface.
⚠️ Water Safety Basics
No lifeguards — swim at your own risk
Stick to designated swim zones
Snorkel at high tide for best visibility
Wear a life vest when kayaking or paddleboarding
Watch for jellyfish, sharp rocks, and strong currents
🧭 Bonus: The snorkeling lagoon on the southeast corner is ideal for first-timers and kids.
🛶 Paddler & Boater Rules
Slow speed, no wake zones around the island
Do not enter swim areas or ferry docks
Anchor only in approved areas (like the west side or north sandbar)
All vessels must follow Florida Fish & Wildlife (FWC) regulations
🛑 Tickets can be issued for speeding, unsafe operation, or illegal anchoring.
